Accommodation
The Accommodation dashboard monitors how occupancy, supply, rates, and booking patterns are changing over time across your selected area.
Filters and Controls
The dashboard is fully interactive — all charts and metrics update instantly when filters are changed or when you select an area directly on the map.
Selecting an Area
You can set the area of analysis in two ways:
Via the Map – Click directly on a region (for example, a Tourism Region, SA3, or LGA). The selected area is highlighted, and all metrics and charts update automatically.
Via the Filters – Use the dropdowns at the top to manually select your area.
Geography
Level (Type of Area) – Choose the spatial unit for your analysis: Tourism Region, LGA, SA3, SA2, Suburb, or Custom Region (if available).
Area – Select the specific location you want to analyse (for example, Brisbane).
Time
Granularity – Choose how data is grouped: by Day, Week, Month, or Quarter. (Note: the “Length of Stay” metric only appears for week or higher granularities.)
Date Range – Set the analysis period (for example, 1 Sept 2024 – 1 Jan 2025). The dashboard automatically compares this to the same period last year.
Overview
The Overview tab provides a snapshot of how accommodation is performing for the selected area and period.
It tracks key indicators like Occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR), Booking Window, and Length of Stay, each with year-on-year change indicators.
The dashboard also visualises how these metrics have changed over time, revealing patterns, peaks, and dips. You can overlay events to understand how festivals, holidays, or major gatherings have influenced demand.
All charts are interactive — hover to see exact figures or switch between time periods to compare seasonal performance.

Future Occupancy
The Future Occupancy tab shows upcoming demand based on forward bookings. It helps identify whether occupancy is expected to rise or fall in the next one to three months compared with last year.
Charts display future occupancy projections over time, helping spot early signals of demand spikes or slowdowns.
You can toggle events on and off to see how upcoming events might influence future occupancy patterns.

Supply Overview
The Supply Overview tab focuses on accommodation capacity and distribution.
It highlights how total beds, listings, and review scores are changing year-on-year, and how listings are spread across platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com and hotels.
This view helps identify shifts in supply concentration, quality, and market diversity across accommodation providers.

Map Integration
The Accommodation dashboard includes a fully interactive map, allowing you to:
Select an area directly to update the analysis
Switch between area types (for example, Tourism Region → LGA → SA3)
Instantly view updated KPIs, trends, and forecasts for the chosen boundary
The map and filters are always in sync, providing a seamless way to explore regional patterns in accommodation performance.

Summary
The Accommodation dashboard provides a clear, data-driven view of how demand and supply evolve across regions. It helps monitor:
Occupancy and rate trends over time
Booking and stay behaviour changes
Future occupancy expectations
Supply growth and composition
Combined with the interactive map, it offers a complete picture of accommodation performance — from daily trends to longer-term demand cycles — enabling quick, evidence-based decisions for tourism and destination planning.
