AI, Filters & Navigation

This section brings together three key elements that make exploring your data faster, smarter, and more intuitive.

  • AI Insights – Instantly transform complex datasets into plain-language summaries. The AI highlights trends, anomalies, and potential opportunities, so you can spend less time interpreting charts and more time acting on the insights.

  • Filters – Quickly refine your view by adjusting date ranges, locations, or specific dataset categories. Filters ensure you’re always looking at the most relevant slice of data for your analysis.

  • Navigation Tools – Move seamlessly through datasets and dashboards with consistent controls for zooming, panning, and drilling down into details. These tools make it easy to explore historical data, compare periods, and uncover patterns.

By combining these features, you can not only understand what’s happening in your data, but also pinpoint why it’s happening — and identify where to focus next.

Filters Section

At the top of each exploration module, you’ll find a Filters bar that lets you customise the data displayed. You can refine your view by:

  • Geographic Area – Select from Tourism Region, LGA, SA3, SA2, Suburb, Postcode and Custom Region.

  • Granularity – Choose Day, Week, Month, Quarter or Year to control the time resolution of the data.

  • Date Range – Select a custom range or a preset period (e.g. Last 7 Days, This Month, Last Financial Year).

  • Module-Relevant Filters

    • Examples:

      • Local/Visitor Filter – Switch between data for locals, visitors, or both.

Interactive Map

The Map component appears when:

  • You click a region in the Filters section, or

  • You use the map button on the right-hand side.

The map highlights your selected geography and can be toggled between multiple boundaries.

For quick visualisation, the selected region is shaded on the map to help you contextualise data geographically.

AI

AI Lightbulbs

Throughout the platform, you’ll notice a small Lightbulb icon next to charts and metrics. These Lightbulbs open contextual AI panels that interpret the data for you.

Viewing Insights and Actions

Click or hover on the Lightbulb to open the AI panel. There are two tabs:

  • Insight – explains what’s happening in the data (e.g. spikes, dips, or anomalies).

  • Action – gives practical suggestions on what to do about it (e.g. pricing, staffing, or marketing responses).

Choosing Your AI Model

You can change the AI model at any time using the selector at the bottom-left corner of the sidebar. Some models are faster and summarise more briefly; others go deeper into the data with richer explanations.

Copying Insights

Each AI panel includes a copy button in the top-right corner. Click it to copy the text directly to your clipboard — ideal for adding insights into reports, presentations, or emails.

Localis AI

Localis AI is the built-in assistant available across the entire platform — you’ll see it in the bottom-right corner of most pages as the chat icon. It’s designed to help you explore your data, explain results, and generate clear, shareable insights on demand.

You can ask it questions in natural language, such as:

  • What events made occupancy spike in January?

  • Which source markets had the biggest spending drops this year?

  • Show me the top categories for sentiment in Brisbane this quarter.

Localis AI responds using the latest data for your selected region, timeframe, and filters. Answers often include summaries, ranked lists, event links, or context drawn directly from your datasets — all written in a clean, report-ready format.

It works across every module — Spend, Accommodation, Events, Flights, Sentiment, and more — so you can move between datasets without needing to re-filter or re-query anything. You can copy insights, ask follow-up questions, or refine queries as you go to dig deeper into the story behind the numbers.

The Localis platform uses a left-hand sidebar for navigation. From here, you can move between modules, switch workspaces, search pages, and access your profile or settings.

Main Sidebar

The sidebar provides access to all major modules across your workspace. You can collapse or expand the sidebar at any time using the arrow icon, giving you more screen space when viewing dashboards or charts.

Each module opens in the same workspace context, keeping your filters, region selections, and dates consistent as you move between pages.

Switching Workspaces

If you’re part of multiple environments — for example, different regions or client accounts — you can switch workspaces from the dropdown at the top of the sidebar. Each workspace contains its own data, permissions, and configurations.

Click the current workspace name (e.g. BEDA) to view all available workspaces and select another region from the list.

Search

The search bar helps you quickly find pages or modules within your workspace. It updates results as you type, so you can jump straight to what you need without scrolling.

Quick Access Tools

At the bottom of the sidebar, you’ll find quick-access icons:

  • Dark / Light Mode – switch between interface themes.

  • FAQ – open help articles and documentation.

  • Contact Us – send a support message directly from the platform.

These tools remain available no matter which workspace or page you’re viewing.

Profile and Account

Your profile icon, located at the top-right of the sidebar, opens your account menu. From here, you can update settings, manage user details, or log out of Localis.

In short, the sidebar is your hub for navigation — giving you quick, consistent access to everything from regional dashboards and data modules to support, appearance, and account management.
