Flight
The Flight dashboard explores travel demand trends using Skyscanner search and passenger data.
Filters and Controls
The dashboard is fully interactive — all charts and metrics update instantly when filters are changed.
Search Mode
Search by – switch between analysing by Origin (where people are flying from) or Destination (where people are flying to).
(The “Rising & Falling Markets” view is only available when either Origin or Destination are set to “All.”)
Location Filters
Origin Name – choose the departure airport or city (for example, Brisbane).
Destination Name – choose the arrival airport or city, or set to All to view combined destination trends.
Travel Filters
Travel Type – filter by Domestic, International, or All travel.
By – switch between Search Date (when users searched for flights) and Departure Date (when they plan to travel).
This helps distinguish between intent and actual trip timing.
Time Filters
Granularity – select how data is grouped (Day, Week, or Month).
Date Range – define the period for analysis (for example, 1 Jan 2025 – 29 Oct 2025). Data automatically compares to the same period in the previous year.
Overview
The Overview tab summarises search and passenger activity for the selected period.
It shows total search volume, total passengers, average trip length, and average travel horizon — each compared to the previous year.
Charts below reveal which destinations or origins are attracting the most interest, and how these patterns have changed over time.

Most Searched Destinations or Origins
Displays the most searched routes from the selected origin or toward the chosen destination. This ranking helps identify top-performing markets and where travellers are showing growing interest.

Rising and Falling Markets
The Rising & Falling Markets tab highlights destination markets that are gaining or losing search interest relative to the previous year.
This view is only available when either Origin or Destination are set to “All,” ensuring a full network-level comparison.
Two tables show:
Biggest Growth Markets – where search volumes have increased most year-on-year
Biggest Decline Markets – where search volumes have dropped most year-on-year
Each table displays the difference in searches and the percentage change, helping pinpoint emerging travel hotspots or declining routes.

Summary
The Flight dashboard visualises real travel intent and movement patterns derived from Skyscanner data. It enables users to:
Track overall search and passenger demand
Identify top-performing routes and destinations
Monitor booking and travel behaviour trends
Detect growing or declining markets
By combining origin–destination flexibility with clear behavioural metrics, it provides a comprehensive view of how air travel interest and activity are shifting across domestic and international markets.
